In 1955, she made her debut as Antonia in Jacques Offenbach’s opera The Tales of Hoffmann. In the same year she was engaged as a private singer by the Szeged National Theatre. She performed mainly in the roles of coloratura. From 1972 she worked as a teacher at the Szeged Music Academy. Her students included Ilona Tokody, Ildikó Tas, Ildikó Komlósi, Mária Temesi, Éva Matkócsik, Éva Bátori, Tünde Frankó, Gabriella Felber, Tamás Altorjay, Tamás Busa, Zita Tímea Somogyvári, Erika Miklósa. Short biography
Valéria Berdál (Kőszeg, 4 July 1933 – Szeged, 17 December 2003) Hungarian opera singer (soprano).
She studied at the Academy of Music between 1950 and 1955 as a student of György Jászó, Luigi Renzi and Erzsébet Hoór Tempis. In 1955 she made her debut as Antonia in Jacques Offenbach’s opera Tales of Hoffmann. In the same year she was engaged as a private singer by the Szeged National Theatre. She performed mainly in the roles of sub-retro-coloratura. From 1972 she worked as a teacher at the Szeged Music Academy and from 1985 at the Szeged Music Academy. She died in 2003, aged 70.
