About the Project

Project “Famous women in science and culture: creating experiences through a joint cultural and tourist route and product development in the cross-border region of Serbia and Hungary ” deals with the problem of gender inequality in culture and science and the lack of promotion and recognition of cultural heritage associated with influential women in science and culture in the cross-border region of Hungary and Serbia.

The main goal of the project is to strengthen and diversify the cross-border tourist offer of Hungary and Serbia by creating a joint tourist route related to important women in science and culture, which will

1) increase the number of visitors,

2) improve the tourist experience and

3) improve the promotion of the cultural heritage associated with the important women of the cross-border region of Serbia and Hungary.

In this way, the project seeks to strengthen relations between the two countries in the context of the position of women in society, the promotion of cultural values and heritage related to this topic, multiculturalism and tourism development.

The cultural and tourist route starting in Novi Sad and ending in Szeged, connects essential sites, museums and galleries associated with the life and work of famous women from the culture and science of Hungary and Serbia. The project’s added value is raising awareness of the role of women in culture and science in the cross-border region – promoting gender equality in culture, arts and science through educational guided museum tours tailored to different target audiences.
